THE MONEY YOU MAY HAVE LEFT BEHIND

Life moves on.
Sometimes money doesn’t.

A move, a name change, a business transition. It’s easy for a payment to lose its way. When the owner can’t be reached, certain funds are transferred to the state for safekeeping.

A payment that never made it to you.

An old payroll check, a refund, or a payment sent to a previous address can eventually become state-held property. We help connect those records to the right person or business.

Clear terms.
Thoughtful guidance.

Money matters are personal. Our approach is simple: explain the process, respect your choices, and keep you informed.

Let’s talk about your funds

No upfront service fees.

Our recovery assistance is success-based. If no funds are recovered, there’s no recovery service fee.

Your fee, explained first.

For standard California state-held property, our agreed fee will never exceed 10% of the amount recovered. Terms are provided in writing before recovery work begins.

A thoughtful approach to your information.

Start with basic contact details. Our inquiry form doesn’t ask for Social Security numbers, bank information, or identity documents.

Independent. And upfront about it.

We’re an independent service, not a government agency. You can always choose to claim directly through California at no charge.

Have another question?
What exactly are unclaimed funds?
Unclaimed funds are money or financial property that a business or financial institution couldn’t return to its owner. Examples include dormant account balances, uncashed checks, refunds, and unpaid dividends. Certain property is transferred to the state for safekeeping until the rightful owner establishes a claim.
Can I claim the money myself for free?
Yes. You can search for and claim California-held property directly through the California State Controller’s Office for free. Our assistance is optional. We provide research, document organization, and guidance if you would rather have help with the process.
How much does your service cost?
There is no fee for the initial review and no upfront recovery service fee. Our assistance is success-based: if no funds are recovered, there is no recovery service fee. For standard California state-held property, the agreed fee will not exceed 10% of the amount recovered. Specific terms are provided in a written agreement before recovery work begins.
How long does recovery take?
Timing depends on the property and the evidence needed. California says investigator claims are generally processed within 180 days after a complete packet is received; securities may take longer. We cannot guarantee an approval date or expedite the state’s review. See California’s processing guidance.
Can you help my business recover funds?
Yes. We help review potential property associated with a business’s current and former names and addresses. An authorized representative will need to establish the business’s entitlement. Mergers, dissolutions, and ownership changes can require additional records or legal advice.
What if I no longer live in California?
You may still have property held by California even if you live elsewhere now. Our initial focus is on funds held by California, rather than on where an owner currently lives. Mention any relevant former California address or business connection in your inquiry, without including sensitive documents.
What happens after I submit a review request?
Your inquiry is saved for review so we can understand your situation and follow up using the contact details you provide. It is not an automated database search, a filed claim, or a recovery agreement. If a potential match is identified, ownership must be verified. We only enter a recovery agreement for property after it has been transferred to the California State Controller’s Office.
Do you help with funds in other states?
We’re starting with California so we can keep our process focused. We may add other states in the future, but this website currently offers California-focused inquiries. For other states, NAUPA’s official directory can point you to the appropriate state program.
